Fil Cultural

Despite topographic obstacles and political borders, the two linguistic communities show numerous similarities: the common linguistic roots; the geographic position in the Alps; the traditional alpine culture; the current challenges as linguistic and cultural minorities; the research of suitable measures to safeguard and foster the endangered minority languages. Against this background, the Fil Cultural Portal has the aim of informing about the history, the current situation and about running projects.

Moreover, this portal also addresses all people who are interested in minority languages. The portal is supported by the two cultural departments of the Bolzano Province and the Canton Grisons as well as by the linguistic institution Lia Rumantscha. These would like to thank Interreg for the financial support. The internet platform provides extensive information about the history and the current situation of the two linguistic communities. Searching an answer for a concrete question, though, is not always easy because of the great amount of available data. Therefore, the Fil Cultural Portal wants to function as a table of contents. It orders the contents available online according to topics and makes them accessible from one central portal. The responsibility for the contents, though, is of the operators of the external sites. Additionally, the portal offers informative introductions and supplementary multi-media information for the various topics. A news window signals current linguistic projects and political-linguistic developments in the Romansh areas of the Grisons and the Dolomites. The portal should represent a stimulus to spread the cultural richness of the two related languages beyond the borders and give an impetus to approach current problems and questions together.
